What is the maximum distance to run Cat5E cable out of the matrix?

What if I have to run the Cat5E further than 30M?
In some cases where you need a run longer than 30M you have a couple of options. If the distance is less than 50M, you will run an HDMI out of the matrix into an EXT1T152 (transmitter), run dual Cat5E cables up to 50M to the EXT1T153 (receiver), then connect to a display via HDMI. If you should need to go beyond 50M, you will need to run dual Cat5E up to 30M from the matrix into a REPUTP01 UTP Repeater and from the REPUTP01 run dual Cat5E to an EXT1T153 (receiver), then connect to a display via HDMI.

What can I do if I cannot get my source device (Blu-Ray player, satellite, etc.) to display on my HDTV when using Wyrestorm's switchers or matrixes?
There may be situations where you will have some source devices that are not compatible with some displays and some source devices that are not compatible with repeaters (switches, A/V receivers, etc.) and vice versa. HDMI, HDCP, and EDID standards, software, and firmware are not something that Wyrestorm has any control over. We have links to Digital Contect Protection's website which lists various sources, sinks, and repeaters that have been tested and verified to work. With the multitude of products available it would be impossible for us to test every wiring scenario. However, we will assist individuals in trying to troubleshoot problems you may encounter when using HDMI products.

Do I need to use the power supply on all matrixes, switchers, and extenders?
It is recommended that if your part has an included power supply that it is used. In most cases, your switch or matrix will not work if it is not powered. In some cases however, you may not need to use both power supplies with your extenders (i.e., you may only need to power the receiver when coming from a matrix or you may only need to use one power supply when using the transmitter/receiver units).

How can I connect more than 8 displays to an 8X8 Matrix and still see different sources on each display?
We are currently working on a solution that offers more connectivity (possibly a 16X16 or 32X32 matrix), but those products won't be available for some time. Currently, we suggest using an SPL1T201 or SPL1T210 to split your source (blu-ray player, satellite, etc.) then feed HDMI into your 8X8 and a 4X4, 4X2, or another 8X8 depending on how many sources/displays you have. By doing this you will have selectable sources at each location.

Can I convert a computer's VGA output to HDMI?
Yes, you can. By using the CONV0101, you can connect the computer's VGA output and the L/R stereo using the included cable to the CONV0101, then out of the CONV0101 to your display via an HDMI cable. You will not be able to get Dolby Digital, DTS, and other digital formats from the analog audio cables. The CONV0101 supports 720p resolution for the display and up to 1900X1200 from your PC.

Can I convert a non-HD source with only composite (such as a VCR, game system, or media player) to HDMI?
Yes, you can. By using the CONV0301, you can convert virtually any type of device that has composite video and L/R stereo audio out to HDMI. During testing of this product, however, we have noticed that some portable media players' (such as Archos) menus would not appear on screen but the video playback would. Your results with portable media players and possibly some other low-resolution devices may vary. If the CONV0301 doesn't work with your device, please call Tech Support for troubleshooting tips. If it will not work at all, simply return the product for a full refund.

What if my source or display has only DVI connections?
With DVI connections you have a couple of options. You can use a standard HDMI cable and add a CONV0210 DVI Male-to-HDMI Female adapter or you can purchase on of our DVI-to-HDMI cables with DVI on one end and HDMI on the other. You will still need audio from your source to connect to the display or vice versa. In most cases, using L/R stereo cables will work or if you have the input/output capability you may use a digital audio connection (such as TOSLINK or coaxial digital).

How many times can one source be split??
How many keys are allowed through the HDCP??
The HDCP specification allows for up to 127 devices to be attached to the most-upstream HDMI Source, typically either a Blu Ray Player, or a Set Top Box. Through up to seven layers of repeaters, the signal can be split until there is a total of 127 devices (each repeater counts in this total number as well). This is not a technical limitation, but a licensing restriction from the content owners.
