At its root, AV over IP is a method of distributing audio, video, control signals and more over a standard IP Network. Initially the technology was used in a variety of ProAV applications due to its low bandwidth characteristics, compatibility with existing network infrastructures and cost-efficient scalability for large footprint arrays. To send HD video signals from a single source to an infinite number of screens, HDMI over Ethernet, also known as HDMI over IP, takes advantage of the existing Ethernet infrastructure.
Professional video over IP systems employs a standard video codec to compress the program material into a bitstream, then transmitted over an IP network as a stream of IP packets.
However, AV over IP technology has evolved to include low and zero latency transmissions, seamless switching and lossless video quality supporting 4K UHD, high frame rates, 4:4:4 and HDR to become an increasingly viable alternative to conventional AV transmission over distance technologies for both residential and commercial applications.
An AV solution for the IT
professionals.
Utilizes industry standards to cost efficiently and reliably distribute content
Perfect for decentralized
system designs
Dynamic routing without the need for additional 3rd party devices at a back-end patch panel
Cost scales in-line to Inputs/Outputs
True convergence of AV over IP reduces hardware and install costs when
compared to non-IP AV
Connect a display to any network port in a room and the video will be routed to it
Ideal for projects 16×16 and over, AV over IP is capable of the largest of AV distribution needs
Far greater flexibility and perfectly tailored or large-scale installs compared to fixed port matrix solutions
Ability to overcome distance limitations by utilizing optical fiber network links
As there is no one AV over IP technology for all applications, you want to make sure you’re using the one best-suited for yours. We’ve channeled our extensive six years of experience in AV over IP into our unique NetworkHD™ line, comprising of three distinct AV over IP technology platforms. With them all sharing the same installation and configuration experience, each series is designed for integrators to provide solutions perfectly tailored to their application.
H.264 and H.265 are well-known video compression standards for high-definition digital video. H.264/H.265 is defined as a block-oriented, compensation-based video compression standard that defines multiple profiles and levels.
JPEG 2000 uses state-of-the-art compression techniques and offers an extremely high level of scalability and accessibility. Content can be coded once at any quality, up to lossless, but accessed and decoded at a potentially very large number of other qualities and resolutions.
SDVoE is an completely lossless, Zero latency means of AV over IP distribution. With unified audio, video and control at a lower price compared to HDBaseT, SDVoE meets the performance and bandwidth requirements of today, and more importantly, into the future.

What is the advantage of AV over IP?
The most significant advantage of this technology is that you can connect any number of devices, any combination of video and audio, at any time. The other benefit is that there are no network limitations on how many channels or devices can connect. This allows larger systems to be more flexible than other technologies like IP-based cameras and DVRs.
How does video over IP work?
Video over IP (VoIP) is an emerging technology that allows you to transmit video through the Internet. With video over IP, you can send a live video feed from your camera or security system to a remote location and receive a replica of the video on your computer screen. Video over IP refers to using standard network infrastructure to switch and transmit high-resolution video and audio signals with low latency, long-distance transmission capabilities, and increased levels of control and zoning from remote platforms and user interfaces. This is in contrast to conventional analog AV environments.
Which protocol is used for audio and video over an IP network?
Video-over-IP is transmitted using standard Ethernet protocol (the same Ethernet network used for computer networks and other ‘over-IP’ technologies such as CCTV, audio, etc.). This is an IP-based video transmission system. The transmission system is generally based on the standard Ethernet protocol, which allows connecting multiple devices to a single network.
